SPEAKER: RICHARD COLWELL, Global Chief Engineer for Materials Engineering Technology, Bechtel
Richard has a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University, and postgraduate degree in metallurgical engineering from Wayne State University. Richard has more than 40 years of experience in design, operation, and maintenance of electric utility, industrial gas, chemical, and petroleum refinery plants. Richards experience base has a major emphasis in failure analysis, materials characterization, structure-property relationships of metals and alloys, high-temperature metallurgy, fracture mechanics, welding, corrosion engineering, and equipment reliability. Richard is presently the Global Chief Engineer for Materials Engineering Technology at Bechtel.

SPEAKER: KEN LEE, DNV
Ken Lee is Principal Engineer at DNV with over 30 years of industry and government experience in pipeline safety and welding. Mr. Lee was previously Director of Engineering and Research at the USDOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Office of Pipeline Safety, and pipeline welding engineer at Lincoln Electric. Mr. Lee is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia, with a M.S. in Welding Engineering from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Lee is active in PRCI and standards committees, including API 1104 and AWS Welding Handbook committees, and has authored over 20 papers.

SPEAKER: FRED SCHWAEIGHARDT, AirGas
Fred Schweighardt is the Director of Business Development and International Expert for Airgas, an Air Liquide Company in Houston, TX. In this capacity, he is applying his extensive background in welding to the fields of industrial gas, efficiency, and quality in fabricating and manufacturing. Prior to joining Air Liquide, he was employed as a pipe welder, heating plant engineer, and weld shop manager. Fred is the Chairman of the AWS A5S (shielding gas) committee and is also a voting member of ISO US TAG 44. Fred graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Welding Engineering Technology, and is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector.
